Jason, the kids and I went up to Oakland on saturday with some friends of ours. We haven't been able to go to the temple since before Jason went to Basic. We really wanted to go to the temple and our friends the Halls were willing to go through a session and then watch our kids while we went through a session. It was a 2 hour trip to Oakland and then we chilled there for 2 hours, went through a session and 3 hours back! Traffic in Oakland is horrible saturday night at 6. but it sure was worth it. Before our session we took our kids into the visitor center and looked at the pictures of our Savior. I pointed to a picture and asked Jonathan "who is that?" He looked up and said, "Esus Esus!" It was just too cute! Then after the session Jason and I sat in the visitor center and looked at the statue of Jesus and we pondered! while we waited for our friends to bring our kids back. As I sat there the song, "I stand all amazed " ran through my head... "I stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers me. Confused at the grace that so fully he proffers me. I tremble to know that for me he was crucified, that for me, a sinner, he suffered, he bled and died. Oh it is wonderful that he should care for me enough to die for me! oh it is wonderful, wonderful to me!"
I marvel that he would descend from his throne divine to rescue a soul so rebellious and proud as mine. That he should extend his great love into such as I, sufficient to own, to redeem, and to justify....
I think of his hands pierced and bleeding to pay the debt! Such mercy, such love and devotion can I forget? No, No, I will praise and adore at the mercy seat, until at the glorified I kneel at his feet. Oh, it is wonderful that he should care for me enough to die for me! Oh, it is wonderful, wonderful to me!
I am amazed at what our Savior did for us and for me. I am grateful for all I have and all I have been given.
